Early in my IT career, I made a significant mistake by not fully understanding the development stages and failing to coordinate a website redesign with a stakeholder. Despite having a concept and structure agreed upon, I presented the redesigned pages without prior approval. As a result, we had to engage another designer, and I covered the rush fee from my own salary. This experience taught me the importance of iterating and coordinating with stakeholders throughout the process.
