Job Summary

The Product Development Chemist operates within the Engineering & Development organization. The product development chemist is responsible for development, improvement and maintenance of various chemical products with the initial focus on metal working fluids.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Planning, organizing, and executing product development and research projects.

• Mining of ideas, feasibility studies, and developing chemistry related to the application area.

• Extensive laboratory formulation work.

• Testing & validation of products meeting performance, cost and HSE specifications.

• Evaluation of raw materials to improve performance, or reduce cost.

• Responsible for maintenance of products within the assigned application area.

• Supporting production in scale up of new developed formulas.

• Investigating off spec batches, recommending modifications or ways to optimize existing blending equipment as well as researching new blending equipment/processes as needed.

• On-site customer visits to better understand customer requirement.

Knowledge and Education

• Master or PhD degree in chemistry

• Preferably knowledge of emulsifier systems and lubricant formulations

• Strong chemical knowledge

• Fluent in English (knowledge of the Dutch language recommended)
