Very simple, recommended by Alstom employee for interview, and half an hour general discussion and then only salary negotiation with HR.
However process is not clear and there is always ambiguity about the position they are offering so same need to be checked repeatedly.
I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at ALSTOM in Aug 2014

Interview
Interviewed by HR and hiring manager. Often one or two interviews in half a day for junior positions. And several interviews with senior managers for senior positions. For senior positions, executive search firms are the most popular methods.
For junior positions, response time can be very slow depending on department.
Job descriptions are very inflated, and therefore should not be intimidated.
Negotiations on compensation are done with HR, but the hiring manager is also aware.
