I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Airbus (Bristol, Engeland) in Feb 2020
Interview
First they took us to a large room where they introduced all the engineers/interviewers who would assess us. They then split us into 2 groups (there were 10 of us on that day) so there were 5 per group.
I had the group interview first. We were taken to a small room with a table in which 5 of us could sit around. In the room there were also around 7 engineers who would watch us and assess the group interview stage. The task was fairly ok, it's quite long to explain. But my tips are to definately not be shy, get involved in the decisions and talking that's going on. Anything you don't understand, ask the other members of your group. Also try to involve the quiter people more, and have a good mix of listening to people and talking.
I then had an hour session where I could ask the current apprentices any questions I had, of which I had loads. They 2 apprentices where VERY helpful in answering really anything.
We then had another 15 min break and then off i was to the face to face interview.
I was taken to a room with 2 people. One was a nice man who was the head of engineering for the A330 program. The other lady was the head of resource management for the landing gear systems, both of whom were very nice and comforting in the interview.
They firstly introduced themselves, and then asked me about what I was proud of on my CV. They asked 6 main questions, each of which had subquestions where they would inquire more about what I had spoken about.
To prepare, just search up what the most common interview questions are, and just have an answer in the back your head for all of them. Definitely read up about airbus, know as much about the commercial aviation side of airbus as possible. (Just an hour or so of research should do it, unless you aren't really an aviation entheusiast)
After this, it was all over. Great interview experience overall. I'm glad I got a place of the 5000 that applied.
