I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Sydney) in Jul 2015
Interview
First there is technical interview which is to really check the general grasp of linux and networking (Emphasis on TCP/IP). There is behavioral part as well which follows the technical interview.
If they are happy with this part, they call you for in-house interview (lasting 4-5 hours) where you are grilled on both technical aspects and STAR type questions.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Dallas, TX) in Nov 2015
Interview
Since signed the NDA, cannot give some details. But processing is after 2-3 times phone interviews(all Technique questions), I got onsite interview. It includes 4 rounds which are 2 behaviors interviews 2 technique interviews. Interviewers are very kindly and just prepared what the job title requirements, will be good.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Dublin, Dublin) in Nov 2015
Interview
I applied through independent HR agency after a couple phone calls they redirected me to AWS recruitment coordinator. He explained to me the process of the interviews and mainly.
1.Telephone Interview (Technical) 30Min
2.Telephone Interview (Competency/Technical Based) 1.5hours
3.In-house Interviews (Competency Based) 5/6 hours
Then he arranged me a phone interview date.
On the interview the person was very polite and understanding. Before we started he explained to me that the interview will be 30 minutes he will be asking 25 minutes questions and the final 5 minutes are for me to ask questions. He told me in case I do not understand something I can ask him as many times as I want. Then he asked me for exactly for which position I want to apply. It was between Windows, Networking and Linux Cloud support engineer. I told him that my knowledge is a mixture of Windows and Networking then he started to ask questions about Windows and Network only since I did not choose Linux. The questions were divided in to two parts the first was about windows and the second was about networking.
What I have noticed is that the questions were relatively easy but he really went in to details. So I can conclude that if you want to apply for AWS you have to really go through some definitions and read some more scenarios and understand them at depth. I failed in the first interview even though I have 12 years experience in a similar the field. Even though that I expected that I have passed the interview test. My feedback was negative nevertheless it was a positive experience for me and I almost 100 % sure that I will pass the test if I had a second chance with the same interview with AWS. I also recommend that you apply only for one position because the initial question will be only connected to that position so you may pay more attention to the exact question unless you really have good knowledge for more than one position,
