I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Edinburgh, Schotland)
Interview
Pretty poor experience applying for Amazon as a Software Development Engineer if I'm honest.
Applied for a web-based role that I exceeded the requirements for by quite a margin, proceeded to get sent leet-code tasks that hold no relevance to the position/use anything their job description requests as essential or nice to have.
Very heavy use of mathematical notations in the problems (when have you ever had to solve business problems that have been written as an equation)
I was going to push through and begrudgingly do the test as I'm aware the bar is high for FAANG, but I decided to close the test and withdraw my application because if they are hiring people based on these tests, I fear they won't be anywhere near suitably equipped for the role they are hiring for and one or two developers will be carrying the whole team productivity wise.
Subsequently applied for an equivalent Google role, received a much more sensible test. I have now accepted an offer a week later
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Leet-code problems with heavy mathematical notation (because of course that happens in real life)
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
1. Phone screen with recruiter
2. Take-home leetcode questions
3. Onsite which included a leetcode hard, two system design questions, and a leadership interview. There was roughly 3-4 weeks in between each round, with no way to speed it up.
One of the interviewers on the on-site did not pay attention until the last ten minutes of the hour, and asked questions about things I had described in length during my coding.
When I was denied, they refused to offer any feedback, making interviewing at Amazon a waste of time.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Cambridge, East of England, England) in Feb 2020
Interview
I've been through 3 interviews, not including the first one which was a long call with the HR. Technical interview happened after a week from the first call with the HR. I solved the questions, then I waited for more than a month to get the decision. By that time I accepted an offer in another company.
