The interview went as usual in such a big company. The first interview was by phone with an HR responsible. The second one was by skype with an IT guy.

Question 1
The conversation with the HR responsible was very nice and professional. She asked about data science in general and why I am looking for another job, etc.
However, the conversation with the IT person was not that good. Most of the question were not related (it seems they were from his field). Before the interview, I checked to whom I am going to discuss and I found that he is an IT Engineer at the company (basically lower in the hierarchy than the offered position). This did not cause any problem to me but at the interview, the interviewer was surprisingly very offensive.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2019
Interview
Phone screen then another phone screen then full day onsite. It's all very structured and professionally done. Difficult process but fair and benevolent. HR is very helpful as well. Very fast feedback after onsite. Great experience overall.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Mix of technical questions and behavioral questions. The technical questions were very relevant to the job, the behavioral questions are relevant to your past experience ( tell me about a time when ... ).
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Feb 2019
Interview
I was contacted by an HR recruiter through LinkedIn mid January, had an HR phone screen 1 week later. Then scheduled a technical phone interview (CoderPad style sharing) 2 weeks after.
I had other friends who were applying at the same time and the feedback was that they would ask 1 SQL related question, 1 coding question, and other business problem solving questions. Surprisingly my interview consisted of ALL machine learning questions (11-12 total), those that you can easily find when you search for "DS interview questions". We didn't even bother using the shared screen for coding, nor there were any leadership principal questions.
They didn't extend my candidacy after the phone interview even though I thought I did very good. I actually came out of that phone call thinking I'd be surprised if I didn't pass this round, just from my performance and the interviewer's feedback.
