I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Deloitte (Los Angeles, CA) in Oct 2011
Interview
Very smooth interview process with speedy email replies and call backs. I found out about the Consultant position on campus and applied. They were interviewing for 1-2 opening. (Don't be afraid to ask them how many openings there are.) We were only required to provide a resume (nice!). I received a first round phone interview and a subsequent second round in person/at the LA office 2-case interview.
The first round behavioral interview consisted of questions like:
1. Talk about 3 strengths and 3 weaknesses of yours.
2. How do you work in a team?
3. Talk about a situation where you and your manager didn't see eye to eye.
4. Talk about a situation where you had to take a leadership role in a team.
5. Why consulting? Why Deloitte?
Was called back 2 hours after my interview to set up a second round interview.
The second round case interviews consisted of 1-30 minute case and 1-45 minute case where I was asked profit maximization questions for a made-up company and asked to perform several easy calculations.
In preparing for the case interviews definitely prepare for the SET UP of how you would approach a profit maximization question so you can clearly outline your thoughts. Act confident above all else. If the interviewer corrects you, let them correct you, they probably know more than you. Time flies by.
Was called back 1 business day later (these in-house interviews are scheduled mainly on Fridays) that I didn't get the job.
Overall good experience with the recruiter and interviewers. I wouldn't apply again since it's a tiring process, but can't say it was a bad experience. Deloitte is a well-oiled machine.
The three-stage process included a case study and involved meeting several team members. Overall, it was a positive experience although the recruiter took a while to inform me about the offer.
The interview process was long and slow. Took a lot of time to connect, but was worth the effort. The interviews were good and informative, but the turn around time was high, had to wait for good 2 months to hear back
