Worst experience ever! The interviewer was rude and unfriendly. Couldn't proceed with the second phase of the process after their recruiter used words I couldn't imagine. During the interview turned out that the interviewer has no clue about the position she/he was interviewing for.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at EPAM Systems (Boedapest) in Sep 2016
Interview
Company HR contacted me based on my CV uploaded in an online portal.
Round 1 : HR interview lasted for around 40 mins. The HR did most of the talking. Was told about the company, its offices, facilities etc. I was asked about my salary expectations, my goals, the reason for changing jobs etc. The purpose was to check my fluency in English and my attitude. Round 2 was scheduled at the end, to happen 2 days later.
Round 2: This was supposed to last for 90 mins. The interviewer was late by about 20 mins. The interview lasted about 70 mins. It was very hard with lots of questions, primarily from behavioral perspective and to check my ability to make decisions. Interviewer was very formal, smiled little but appreciated my answers. Many technical questions could not be asked as my background was completely different. Interviewer appeared to be in a hurry towards the end.
Round 3: Interview with resource manager scheduled 4 days later, lasted 60 mins. He informed me about the available projects, my salary and my career within the company. Also possibilities of travel and relocation were discussed. Standard behavioral questions were asked. Interviewer was very informal and the discussions were amazing. I really had a good time talking to this guy and had a tough time keeping the formal nature.
Round 4: Interview with 3 other Business Analysts one of whom, i was to replace, was scheduled 3 days later. Only 2 of them showed up. Interview lasted 60 mins. I was informed about the tools and processes used in that particular project. More behavioral questions were asked. Some questions asked in Round 2 were asked again. 20 mins was given to me to ask them questions. I had an uneasy feeling throughout the interview because one person did most of the asking and the other guy did not talk much, except towards the very end.
HR asked me to wait for 2 weeks as the team had to discuss my application with the clients. I waited.
After this the HR asked for more time. I was asked if i have other offers etc. I waited, sending one follow up email per week, the response to which was always to wait. 3 weeks later, i was informed that i had qualified all the rounds but the hiring manager decided to put this position on hold.
The HR was very supportive and replied to all my queries post rejection in a patient and professional manner. The company appeared to be a good environment to work in, having many diverse projects and lots of training opportunities (technical and linguistic). I guess i was just unlucky.
