The hiring process was simple. I submitted my resume on the government hiring portal (usajobs.gov). I received a phone call about 2 weeks later; asking if I could do an over the phone interview at that time. I did the interview which took about 30 minutes. I received an offer about one week later.

500 applicants in 2 days, led to a mass hiring of 30 people. It was the first hiring in 2 years. Hiring was done across multiple departments, and the interviewers alternated questions.

8 questions, all of which were pretty standard interview questions. Nothing specifically related to science or the position, moreso in the realm of handing adversity, etc.

Interview
I applied for this position with a form and two recommendation letter from academic advisers. I talked with the EPA adviser on phone, and she is satisfied with my research experience. I got a job offer two months after application.
