I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Freelancer in May 2025
Interview
I had a frustrating and disappointing experience with Freelancer's hiring process. After multiple rounds of communication, including plans to meet with the CEO, I was ghosted without explanation. I confirmed availability several times, adjusted my schedule across time zones, and followed up respectfully. Despite all this, there was no closure or further response.
Freelancer should seriously reconsider how its HR and talent team operate. Ghosting qualified, motivated candidates not only reflects poorly on the company’s culture; it’s also a clear signal that internal coordination and respect for people’s time are lacking. They are likely losing out on strong talent due to these avoidable missteps.
Advice to leadership: If hiring priorities shift or roles change, communicate. Candidates deserve transparency, especially when you’ve initiated the engagement and taken them far into the process.
The interviewer was polite. He asked many many questions. But he gave me time to think about my answer. At the end of the interview he wished me luck and told me he’d let me know. Would reccomend.
The interview process was clear, respectful, and well-organized. Communication was timely, expectations were outlined early, and the overall experience made it easy to feel prepared, confident, and focused throughout the discussion.
