I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lightspeed (Montréal, QC) in Jan 2017
Interview
The process took three weeks. About 30 minutes after I sent my portfolio, HR called me back to schedule a first interview over the phone the next day as they seemed eager to meet me. A few days later I met with three different people in their office for about 1 hour each person.
The interviews were one on one and they were challenging. The questions almost were exactly the same with each person, but each had a completely different idea of what the job is. One suggested that my experience in UX wasn't needed and that they wanted someone with strong visual skills, the other wanted an all around UX/UI designer and the last one said I HAD to know how to code iOS applications.
Despite having to adapt to each person and cater my answers to give the best and most honest impression, I did well and they called me back the same day to do a design test.
Here is a copy-paste of the assignment sent:

I submitted it before the deadline and made sure to ask HR if I did indeed follow the requirements, they told me that I did and I would hear from them shortly.
Two weeks later and still no follow-up so I emailed them. The response was that they didn't retain my candidacy before although the work was very well execute and visually striking, it lacked context because I only submitted one screen.
I replied back by expressing my confusion and disappointment considering that I had followed all the requirements and never heard from them again.
Not only they took a lot of my time (work and personal), they never followed up and finally they gave me a nonsense excuse for not hiring me which is unprofessional and frustrating.
