Shopee Philippines HR contacted me through email for the exam and interview. HR recruiter requested me to send my available schedule. However, the HR recruiter was very unprofessional. He replied to me after five days for the schedule. I hesitated and decided to reschedule to 24 January 2020, 11am.
During the day I went to Shopee Philippines office, I was appalled by the great ambiance of their modern office. But, it wasn't for long that I lost respect for their HR. The recruiter was very unprofessional. He told me to come before 11am, but he already entertained me by 11:45am.
I was told to take an exam and I took it. The exam was mostly about networking, troubleshooting, and the like. However, the exam can only be answered by experienced people from data centers. It was very different and I thought it's just going to be a basic and fundamental test for networking. I had no idea about it since I am just a fresh graduate of electronics engineering. Recruiter told me to answer the exam in one hour. However, he did not come back in an hour. He went back to me at 1:30pm.
The HR recruiter has no idea of what he is doing. He checked the exams based on an answer from the laptop despite having no idea about the subject. I thought that the exam will be checked by an experienced hiring manager. I failed the exam and the recruiter implied to me that they needed someone with experience. You should have rejected my application instead of wasting my time, effort, and finances to go to the office.
Your HR recruiter is very unprofessional. You hire great talents from DLSU, UPD, and AdMU for HR recruiter position, however their attitude is not good and not professional. I hope that an HR manager will read this so that they can improve their HR processes and best practices. Shopee is a great company, but its frontline HR might destroy this reputation.
