I applied online. I interviewed at Super Micro Computer, Inc. (Supermicro) (San Jose, CA) in Apr 2025
Interview
I had one phone interview with a recruiter followed by four rounds onsite. The phone interview was fine but the onsite interview was very interesting. Firstly, I had to spend close to $200 on my personal dime to Uber to and from the campus which the company did not ask to reimburse or reimburse when I asked. The campus is dreadful. It's by far the oldest building that I have stepped into with bathrooms from like the 80s or 90s and somehow they expect employees to be on campus 5 days a week. In addition, I was originally scheduled to have 3 rounds onsite but somehow that expanded to 4 rounds while I was there. The team themselves did not really know what they are looking for, absolutely misguided. One of the rounds was "technical" where the interviewer was just trying to outsmart me the whole time rather than trying to understand my experience. He was literally laughing at my responses. And another round was a great conversation but the interviewer kept throwing shade on the company, the way it operates, and the CEO.
I left thinking that overall it went well but mixed feelings about the company. Over the weekend, I took a look at the reviews for this company across Glassdoor, etc. and I was shocked. THEY ARE AWFUL lol. The company is trying to compete with next-gen tech companies but lives in the old way of operating where everything needs to run by the CEO. And somehow boxed dinners have become the new positive. I would run away from this company and definitely don't interview onsite. It's absolutely stupid and just a waste of time + money. Let them pay for your time or put it over Zoom.
