The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Redlands, CA) in Jan 2011
Interview
I first received a phone interview that asked basic sales experience questions and after doing well they set a date for a 1:1 interview with a store manager. I arrived at the Home Depot and there were many applicants waiting to be interviewed. I sat and chatted with them for about 30 minutes because they were running behind then I was called in.
The woman interviewing me was really nice and I got along with her well. They had put me in the plumbing department but it was full so they switched me to Paint. After the interview I was told that I would get a call back for a second interview.
I waited a week and nothing. I called in and asked to speak to the manager and she remembered me and told me that they'd call soon. At the end of the week I called again and decided to drive down to the store and speak to someone. I talked to the manager again who assured me that she gave my application to the head of the paint department and that she was busy training.
This is the 2nd week and still no word from Home Depot and I'm getting worried. I'm expecting a call this week but I'm disappointed that they don't keep their applicants updated.

Interview
I applied for this job online and received a call a few days later for an interview with the store manager. It was a basic interview. We went over my availability, which seemed to be the most important aspect to the store manager. I had a second interview with one of the Assistant managers which had more structures questioning. They were interested in hiring someone with knowledge in the area they were applying to work in. I was called in for a third meeting which was with the store manager who offered me the position and gave me a little more money for having knowledge in horticulture.
