I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Savannah, GA) in Feb 2009
Interview
After applying for the position online( this included personality exams, and some skills testing) there was a 1 on 1 interview, a second invitation that involved panel interview, then acceptance of drug and background testing. After applying online, one must announce your desire for the job to the store management, and take the lead ( ion a non-pushy way) in maintaining contact until a decision is reached.

Question 1
What was the most difficult situation you have had to handle as a supervisor?
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Atlanta, GA) in Apr 2008
Interview
The interview began with a panel of 8 employees coming into a small room and sitting across from me. They were all expressionless-- like robots. Randomly, they began asking questions. Most were short answer questions, with little opportunity to turn them into open-ended responses. I was cut off in mid sentence several times. It felt like a bright light was being shown on me and that I was being interrigated. After the group interview, I was left with a piece of paper that described a scenario involving counseling an associate on a disciplinary issue. Seven of the panel remained in the room. One panel member left, then returned 5 minutes later role-playing the associate. I role-played as manager, as the rest of the panel watched and took notes. I was never called back by the company-- guess my acting abilities were not to their liking. The interview was very cold, very impersonable. I decided before I left that I did not want to work there. Question is-- do they ever smile? Or were they just great actors???

Question 1
What would someone who doesn't like you say about you?
The process took 5 days. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2010
Interview
Applied online, and the following day I received a call telling me if I could make it to an interview at 3:15. Got to Home Depot, asked the HR where I had to go, they said isle 6, turn right, and go to the second floor. It was a big room, with four office doors. Lady was already expecting me. Signed an application, and she started asking away.
When the interview was done, she told me I made it to the second interview, to expect a call in 48 hours telling me when to come back. I did notice signs all over the place saying "We check for drug use. If you do drugs, don't bother applying." -- I haven't smoked in over a year, so I was safe.
