I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2020
Interview
This was one of the most difficult job interviews I have gone through.
First I had a call with the recruiter - standard phone screen. On that call she let me know that she would be reaching out to schedule a 30 minute zoom with someone on the team.
I then interviewed with someone on the team as a situational interview. It was pretty straightforward.
The last step was to present a business case to a panel. It was very nerve-wracking but I felt the questions they asked me were fair and I had ample time to prepare. The last interview was about an hour long and the questions were about my presentation and also about my prior work experience.
The recruiter was very warm on the phone and sweet. Moved me on to the next round immediately. The next interview was with the hiring manager and he was late to the interview by a few minutes (which is fine) but when he came in he was kind of all over the place and rushed through every question and barely gave me time to answer properly or hear what I had to say. It felt like I wasn’t being taken too seriously. After the interview I received notice that I didn’t move forward. I asked why and the recruiter said they already had another candidate in mind while interviewing me.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2019
Interview
I had a 15 minute phone interview with the internal recruiter and then a 30 minute call with a Manager. Both of them felt extremely dry like they were just shuffling me along. The 30 minute call with the manager was particularly strange. He didn't ask me a single question other than "why do I want the job?" He must not have liked my answer because he cut the interview short 15 minutes. It was weird. Things I was told in the first interview about the position were different coming from the managers mouth. I was told first that it was a sales role and then by the manager that it was not.
