Transparency builds trust. “At times, I use the AI output as a second opinion in my room. I'll show patients what it suggests on my screen. It gives them confidence that whatever I’m doing aligns with current best practices and guidance.” — Dr Rahul Goyal. Used well, tools like this support judgment and give time back to care. AI can get stuck in a creative loop. When image generation and image description models feed each other repeatedly, outputs drift from the prompt and converge on familiar themes. Training data may be why. The loop pulls toward the most common images people create and share. Read more. 👇
Happy Holidays from all of us at Elsevier! We’re grateful for the global research and healthcare communities we serve. Thank you for your trust and collaboration this year. May your holidays be joyful and the year ahead filled with new discoveries.
A study published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology by researchers at King’s College London found that lowering blood sugar significantly reduces the risk of heart disease in patients with prediabetes. The study, led by Dr Andreas Birkenfeld, analysed data from the US Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study and the Chinese DaQing Diabetes Prevention Outcomes Study. It revealed that achieving prediabetes remission lowered cardiovascular death or heart failure hospitalisation risk by 58% and reduced heart attack and stroke risk by 42%. The findings suggest that prediabetes remission could be a primary prevention tool for heart disease.
