I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Cape Town) in Mar 2015
Interview
Had 5-hour interview with 5 people including hiring manager. Each had one hour slot without breaks in between. Each had a specific technical competency focus + "leadership principles". Prior to the onsite interviews there is a 30-min technical aptitude phone screen. The process is very stressful because it is 5-hour long without breaks.

Question 1
I found some personality-related questions inapplicable to the job description. I think the hiring manager was using some sort of South African standardized way of interviewing.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Dublin, Dublin)
Interview
They are very selective, the interviews lasted about 45 minutes each, the first one was very technical and theoretical, while the second was divided in two parts: the first was technical and the second one was about my working experiences. It was hard, but a very positive experience, even if I didn't make it
Contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn I've sent my resume and was invited to a phone interview. The process is the same as described by other with 2 phone interviews and then a face to face on site. First interview 30 to 40 min. Second from 1h to 1,5h both technical covering basics of networking and Windows or Linux depending on the position you're applying. I passed the first interview but didn't continue due to some personal issues. The third interview will last a day at an Amazon office covering both tech and behavior. That was described on the process.
