I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
Initial networking process:
- Met Amazon and some of its representatives at a career fair at my school. Dropped off my resume there and got a call to schedule an interview with them within a week.
Pre-interview
- I was sent a "homework assignment" before my final interview that I was required to complete prior to my final interview
Final interview
- Format: 4 30 minute rounds with a variety of full time employees at the company
- Questions: Lots of technical / company based questions, some behaviorals included

Question 1
How do you price a product that has no comparables in the market?
2 phone interviews plus an on-site interview.
At the phone interviews, the questions were mainly behavioral questions (like tell me how you behaved in a team work situation., or tell me about a time when you have to face difficulties). Then you have to face an onsite interview (I have to do this step). The recruiters were very friendly and polite.

Question 1
Tell me a difficult situation that you have faced and how you overcame it.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Dec 2014
Interview
I applied for the position online. I was supposed to have a phone interview, but no one ever called. Upon emailing to find out what happened, I was instructed to re-schedule online on a Google Doc. I did this and when the time came to interview again, the interview was cancelled. A few days later I received an email saying I was invited to the Amazon campus to interview in person. This was a final round interview that I magically ended up in. I was told that there would be 2 interviews and a decision would be made.
24 hours before the interview I was sent a writing assessment in which I had to recommend certain promotions while keeping profit and inventory constraints in mind. I completed the assessment and the next day I showed up to the interview and was informed that there would be 3 interviews that day. In the first interview I was grilled on the assumptions that I made in my writing assessment. I was asked to do calculations on the whiteboard in the room. Other than this, there were only really behavioral questions. The 2nd interviewer asked me if I knew what NPV is and had me write the formula for it.
I received a phone call 45 minutes after I left Amazon. The caller was an HR representative offering me the job. They offered me $3500 a month for 6 months. I declined as I had other options on the table that fit my background a little better.

Question 1
Be prepared to defend your writing assessment assumptions. Other questions I didn't expect were "If you were a VP and had to present an new country for Amazon to start their website in, what things would you consider in making this recommendation?" and "A supplier usually sells product for $10 a unit, but is willing to sell for $7 a unit given we buy many more units than we would typically keep on hand. What things do you consider in deciding to do this or not?"
