I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Backbase (Ciudad de Mexico) in Dec 2021
Interview
is a technical exam process with 3 exercises plus multiple choice questions about spring and then a technical interview, you will see many topics, from basic java, spring, microservices and databases as well as implementations for microservices and exceptional java handlers and interceptors.
First step was a home assignment with deadline in ~1 week (implementation of backend service based on received set of requirements). Second step was a technical interview with principal engineer and architect which included technical questions as well as discussion on the assignment. The assignment itself was very interesting and allowed to demonstrate a whole range of skills, clean code and design, testing, algorithmic skills, knowledge of libraries/frameworks, etc., much better than a whiteboard interview. The technical interview was also interesting, interviewers were were nice and professional, questions were clear, if I didn't know the answer they didn't give me the feeling that I was doing bad on the interview, so I didn't feel additional pressure and I could just focus on delivering best answers where possible.
