Carrier interview questions

I received an E-mail to move into the first phase of interviews. This interview was going to be held by phone. Once the day came, the recruiter started the interview telling me that the position was already filled but other position (For a completely different major. I am an electrical engineer but the secondary position was for an embedded system engineer). Sadly, I had to decline to continue the interview since the position which the recruiter wanted me to interview for was not beneficial for me to seek. I wish that the recruiter would have stated this on the E-mail before setting up an interview.
