I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Databricks in Apr 2020
Interview
The recruiter did an excellent job reaching out and taking me through the candidate process. Databricks has a high bar for talent and this was reflected in all the conversations I had with the team. The process is comprehensive and allows the candidate and Databricks to understand if it will be a good match. Databricks is open about its ambitious growth plans.

Question 1
Describe a challenging project you worked on and how you worked through it.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Databricks (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2019
Interview
I was referred by an employee. The first step was a call with the recruiter. He barely asked me any questions about myself or my background. He mainly went on about how he needed to hire X amount of people to keep up with growth. I can appreciate the urgency yet it seemed like they weren't really looking at you as a person, more of a number to hit. The next interview was with a manager on the team. They asked about my background and a few general SQL questions on joins. It was also quite rushed and we ran out for time.
Afterward, they told me to reach out if I had any questions. I reached out via email and never got a reply to my follow up questions. A few weeks later, I reached out to the recruiter to get the status of my application. No reply.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Databricks in Feb 2019
Interview
All interviews conducted via phone only, no video. First scheduled interviewer missed the call. Rescheduled call for following week, then another one with another person a week later. Spent an entire Saturday doing a coding assignment. Two additional interviews after that. Company ghosted me after that and did not respond to tell me that the process was not moving forward. All interviews conducted by men. Was clearly not a good fit for me.
