I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Elsevier in Oct 2018
Interview
I submitted an application online. I received an email almost immediately asking when I would be available for a phone interview. Two phone interviews were arranged and the interviewer never called me. On the third attempt, I called them at a pre-set time and the interviewer thought I was someone else! After finally speaking to them, I was asked to resubmit my CV and told to expect an in-person interview in a few days. I then heard nothing. I chased three times with varying responses - including being called the wrong name! I was finally told that they had offered the job to someone else.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Elsevier
Interview
The HR representative, hiring manager, and potential co-worker were all very knowledgeable, professional, and amenable. One would think that after 4 separate rounds of the interview process candidates who were chosen earned the courtesy of some kind of “thanks-but-no-thanks” communication.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Elsevier
Interview
Great interview, focusing on required skills and previous experience. Didn't get that feeling that someone was waiting for me to 'slip' or facilitating my 'slip'. They didn't ask me any tricky questions or any 'What do you see yourself doing in 5 years' crap. It was basically an interesting two way conversation.
