I applied online. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (Londen, Engeland) in Oct 2019
Interview
No salary range or information was given at all, however the application form required you to submit your salary expectations for the role and your current salary. After having read the reviews from other people of the Penguin Group on Glassdoor, it would seem that their salaries are very low (by industry comparison) so I suspect this was the main reason. I didn't hear back form my application at all except to say that I was unsuccessful. I would have very much appreciated even a small amount of feedback, as I suspect that my salary expectations were way above what they were prepared to offer for the role,. But had they been upfront about that, I wouldn't have applied and wasted mine and their time.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY) in Nov 2019
Interview
My interview experience was really positive. If there is anything I can recommend to people interviewing at Penguin, it's that you should prepare a lot of behavioral questions such as "tell me about a time when.." Additionally, bring several copies of your resume to an in-person interview. I will also say that I applied for 8 jobs at Penguin before getting an interview, and the only reason I actually got one is that I had a friend who worked directly with that imprint,
First, I was emailed by the recruiter, which went really well. On the phone with me, she scheduled the in-person interview, which was a few days later. I was told the in-person interview would take about an hour, but I was there for 2 hours. When I asked for an update about three weeks later, I was told I was still being considered. However, I received a job offer from another publisher and reached out to Penguin to see if they wanted to counter. The recruiter was super nice and got back to me promptly. They decided not to offer and I ended up taking the offer from the other company.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you had multiple projects to juggle and how you managed it.

Interview
Was called by HR for an informal discussion before an interview time was set up. Wasn't told how the initial phone conversation went until three days later until I received a call to set up an interview for the next week. Had in-person interview with the two VP's I would be working with; they were incredibly sweet and seemed incredibly impressed with me, and ultimately didn't hire me because they said I was too "experienced for the role." Frustrating.
