Interview
In November 2011 I applied online (Target.com) to work at Target mainly doing overnight stock work. I think it took about a week after applying before they called me to set up an interview. I showed up to the interview, the first interview was with a man named Brandon and it was pretty basic (why are you here, tell me about a time, yada yada yada). He said I did great and would see if the main manager was available for my next interview. Instead of setting up a second interview at a later time, I was able to have it right after the first. The second interview was somewhat of a recap of the first one, the manager said because my main position was overnight I would get a $1 pay bump but because I was being hired a week or two before Black Friday, I'd have to cashier a little while, "everyone cashiers on Black Friday" he said. I said that was fine as I had a little experience doing cashier work. He asked about my experience relating to the Flow position and I said I had help stock stores before-I helped put together and "build" the Halloween store that was about 2 minutes away during the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons, so I was used to heavy lifting and such. He mentioned if I wanted I could do also work on the Plan-O-Gram team but I declined. He did ask a somewhat generic question "was I a target shopper" and I said "yes sir, this shirt is Merona", I thought wearing a dress shirt of theirs would score me extra points, he complimented my shirt and said he liked the brand. He asked what I was looking for-seasonal work or career-and I said career; "I want to get up every morning and be proud to put that red shirt on", I said, I know that sounds cheesy but I suck at interviews.
After the second interview was over I met with who I assumed was the HR woman. She had me sign a "Conditional Job Offer Addendum" and then I was told where to go to take my drug test and that I had to have it done before 5:00pm that day.
I didn't show up to my first orientation but they called me back for a second orientation. I showed up for that one, spent about an hour or so watching a videos, discussing working there, did a store walk-through and paired me off with two people to work on the registers. I worked with a guy that was about 17 years old first and then a 21 year old woman.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you dealt with a difficult problem and how you solved it.

Interview
Filled out an application online. I know people that work here so they let HR know I was applying. Received a call a few days later asking if I could come in the next day for an interview and checking if the shift hours and pay were acceptable to me. I arrived early and took the second part of the application at their hiring kiosk, which was about 20 situational and math-related questions. I then met with the Flow Team Lead for a brief (5 minutes tops) interview that mostly consisted of situational questions. After that I met with a manager for an even shorter interview which also consisted of situational questions, some of which were repeats. Then I was told to wait a moment and an HR rep came in and offered me a job contingent on a drug test and background check. I think because I have a few years experience with shipment with another big box company and the fact that I knew other employees, the interviews were more of a formality than anything. All in all a fairly painless process. They didn't even ask for professional references.

Name a time when you had to work as a team to accomplish something
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Target (Knoxville, TN) in May 2011
Interview
Applied online about 2-3 weeks ago, received a call Monday from Target wanting to schedule an interview for Thursday.
I was asked to take a 15-20 question test on the computer in the store and then I was directed to a room and met with a manager. He went over the basic job description and asked 4 experience/behavioral questions and said another manager was coming in to talk with me also.
The next guy comes in and does almost the exact same thing, but with different questions.
I then had the head of HR come in who formally offered me the position and I accepted. This offer was of course reliant on the passing of a drug test and background check.
The whole process from the time I arrived in the store was no more than 45 minutes.
