I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesco (Berkhamsted, England) in Feb 2011
Interview
Varies from store to store but I've worked in two Tesco stores and both interviews were one-to-one.
They asked things like:
- why Tesco?
- Describe a time you have been put in a position of trust.
- Name a time a manager has introduced something you disagreed with, how did you react?
- Describe a time you have been disappointed and how you dealt with it.
- Describe a time you worked in a team to reach a target.
- Describe an example of good customer service.
Obviously these will differ from store to store as well, but generally always back everything up with an example. It is not enough to just say 'I work hard and am a team player', you have to provide evidence in the form of previous experience.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Tesco (Oldham, Engeland) in Feb 2011
Interview
Long but easy questions. basically asking about your previous experiences. how would you do things differently etc. I dont know what else to write just making up the 50 words needed to submit this nonsense.

describe a time when you were responsible for something?
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Tesco (Whetstone, London, England) in Oct 2015
Interview
Some woman called me from the store three days before the interview and was very rude. I wasn't sure where the store was getting the postcode was a bother to her. I was told to come with photocopies of all the 32 pages of my passport and NI that's odd, this is Tesco a billion pound multinational company. I didn't copy my passport to see what happens at the interivew. Anyone who didn't make a black/white copy of their documents had to go to the corner shop across the road to make copies to hand over.
When the group interview ended with the first queston, the manager said the session was running late and would be 3-4 hours long. I wasn't told on the phone how long the session would be. I needed to leave early just in case, to get to an important appointment. The manager's facial expressions said its not possible for me to stay and when I asked what will happen with my application his face just said its over then I walked out.
Totally unimpressed with this smug company, don't feel like shopping there anymore. Tesco must treat potential employees like customers as well.
