I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Atlanta, GA) in Aug 2009
Interview
You have to apply online for any Home Depot job. I applied online and also marked their Military Spouse employement program as a referral source. I heard back in about 3 weeks and had a pre-screening phone interview - fairly pleasant, lasted about 25 minutes. 1 week later had a 1:1 interview, asked many what would you do questions.
Did not receive an offer.

Interview
Placed an application online for a job. It was discovered by another manager, looking for a similar position. I received a call, set up an interview. I went into the store, about 5 days later. Had a 1 on 1 interview. Then had additional interviews at the same time with others. Clearly the offer was not going to be in my pay range, so after a few phone calls the process was suspended.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at The Home Depot in Mar 2009
Interview
The interviewer was a department manager in the store, but had very little knowledge about the department manager position for which I was applying. I was asked questions about my previous experience in retail and interior design. I had a second interview with the store manager who questioned me about how I would motivate my department to achieve and exceed sales targets. Be prepared to offer motivational techniques for sales associates.
