I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Uber in Oct 2018
Interview
First round is a HW assignment candidates are given a week to complete. Prompt was to go through the entire product cycle for an existing or new feature. They recommend that candidates spend ~6 hours on the proposal but chances are, you'll take much longer. I personally took 2-3 days to draft a ~10 page proposal. Best to be concise and don't go overboard with content.
Phone interview was fairly straightforward. You're given a 45 min product design interview and another 45 min analytical interview back to back. I didn't make it past this round but prepare for questions specifically related to Uber's product/business. I had one really nice interviewer and another that seemed like he didn't want to be there. At least one had gone through the APM program.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Whats your favourite non-technical product?
- What metrics would you look at to improve the pickup experience?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Uber in Oct 2018
Interview
The interview process for APM starts with the Homework Assignment. If that goes well, the next step is a first-round phone screening, including two 45-minute calls. Then the process hopefully moves into onsite interviews.

Question 1
Name the most recent large concert, sports game, or event you attended. Based on your observations, what were some complications with ridesharing during the event, and how could we improve?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uber in Aug 2017
Interview
Process was very unprofessional. First step was a take home assignment. I spent a total of 8 hours on the assignment. They expected a very thorough analysis of a new product feature. I got no communication from my recruiter for 3.5 weeks. After a lot of emailing they said they were super busy. Got a rejection the next day with rude feedback that said "idea unrealistic, not a feature Uber would ever consider."
If I already knew in advance how exactly Uber evaluates launch decisions and why or why not they are feasible, I would have opened my own ridesharing company!
Pretty unprofessional and negative experience, would not encourage others to apply.
