Pros

Great team to work with and good staff culture amongst the sales associates

Cons

Consistently poor leadership – The management team showed little structure, direction, or accountability. Daily operations often felt chaotic rather than professionally organised. Lack of respect toward staff – I frequently experienced dismissive and unprofessional behaviour from management, which made the workplace feel unsupportive and uncomfortable. Unfair treatment of employees – Decisions around shifts, responsibilities, and discipline felt inconsistent and biased, with no clear or transparent reasoning. Weak understanding of managerial responsibility – Managers often appeared unsure of their own roles, leading to poor planning, unclear expectations, and reactive decision-making. Failure to support staff – Concerns raised by employees were regularly ignored or minimised, leaving problems unresolved and morale low. Poor communication – Instructions, policies, and expectations were often unclear or changed without explanation, making it difficult to perform well or meet standards. Lack of professionalism – Issues were handled emotionally or informally rather than through proper procedures, creating an environment that felt unstable and unfair. Negative impact on staff wellbeing – The combination of weak leadership and unfair treatment created stress, frustration, and disengagement among employees.

Pros

Sales Assistant colleagues you work with are amazing, other than that, nothing to mention.

Cons

Where do I even begin. I have never worked with such an incompetent, toxic management in all my years of customer service. The first issue is the clear fact that, for some reason, all managers in this store are/were hired from the same workplace previously( well done HR! ), and so an established circle exists. There is a very, very clear divide between management and the rest of the team, which leads to extremely toxic interactions and conflict. By the way- there are EXTREME levels of micromanagement and passive aggressiveness I have never seen before, which borders on the line of pure insanity- specific managers will bully you unnecessarily, and talk down to you (even using very inappropriate language for the workplace at times) for no reason, and watch your every step on CCTV, which is not only intrusive, but very unrepresentative of the company image. The store itself is run very unprofessionally- managers/ supervisors have NO clue what they're doing 90% of the time with poor management of stock/ delivery, leaving a majority of the work to the stock team (who work like crazy picking up their slack!), with no gratitude whatsoever. The store in general is VERY busy, and you are told to sell sell sell, with no incentive to do so. This summer, the store was sweltering with no AC, and little to no concern for the staff and customers. Some of the staff nearly fainted, and nothing was done??! I would like to add that multiple people have reported management to HR with NOTHING being done. This includes cases of: Workplace bullying Blatant racism and profiling False accusations Firing staff (with an illegitimate reason, even off probation) and many, many more I cannot mention here for privacy reasons. So not only are management to blame, but HR is apparently asleep 90% of the time, so good luck chasing up on them for assistance, as they won't dare help you. I have seen many colleagues cry during my time here, which is insane really (its a shoe store?!!) Lastly, there is no commission, NO chance for progression (they're all friends here!), and no company benefits, really, apart from the discount. Very high turnover as a result.
