I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Dallas, TX) in Mar 2015
Interview
Had one phone screen. Once I passed that I was invited for an in person interview. This was an all day affair of non stop interviews. These are only one on one interviews, but they are back to back. They bought me lunch, but I was still interviewed through that. After 6 or so of those you are done and then its the waiting game. I was given an offer letter less than a week after the in person interview.

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
A 2 hour-long phone call, fully technical in nature, one hour was about systems and the other about networks. Interviewers were absolutely polite and to the point and were doing a good job of making a map of my knowledge and abilities without getting me scared or overwhelmed. Questions were more like scenarios and the interviewers did adapt to my answers, pushing the scenario further on.
Then I got an email asking me to get to Dublin for a face to face interview, which I am about to do. I therefore don't know if I'm getting an offer or not yet.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Aug 2015
Interview
The interview was a very professional and a technically engaging experience. Interviewer was a senior level Cloud Support Engineer, which had a very strong depth of knowledge about their platform and the OS underpinning it. Interview was conducted via telephone and was not a cookie cutter question type interview. The interviewer definitely knew what he was asking and talking about, and hit with questions that were broad enough that they can get a feel for your actual skill level.
