Recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn, followed by 3-4 hours virtual on-site interviews with hiring team and was very disappointed by their decision to reject me because of my foreign accent. Despite speaking German at Business level and having a very positive experience in two interviews, including with the senior hiring manager, I was rejected. The recruiter told me that it wouldn't have been a good fit for traditional German clients, which shows me that Navan is still prejudiced against non-native speakers.
5 steps in the interview. HR screen, 1 interview with the direct manager, 2 interviews with cross functional roles, then a final roleplay. Was told "I would love to have you on my team" by the direct manager in the second interview. Was told "i'd hire you" by the Head. Was told "you would be a great fit' for this job. Ghosted. Interviews were clearly them reading questions off a document they would look at during interviews.
