I applied online. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY)
Interview
I have interviewed at this company no fewer than 30 times. I find it deeply inhumane that after all this time and effort I have invested, constantly applying, interviewing, and subsequently getting rejected (by phone, by email, no response for weeks; it varies), they refuse to tell me what I'm doing wrong or on what I could improve. It's getting silly.
I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY) in Jul 2016
Interview
Met with HR and editors on the same day, which I was not told about. HR is (dutifully) unreadable, bubbly, accommodating. Editors were great to connect with, but clearly in the process of going through multiple resumes and interviews. In the end, pretty clear they were looking for someone with a lot of previous experience as a publishing assistant or from an alumnae from their alma mater.

Interview
Video interview. Was difficult without the face to face element. I wish I had rehearsed with a camera a few lore times. The video interview was short, only 5 questions and about 2 min to answer each one. Overall the experience was ok.
