Was called for a pre-screening "interview," which was very informal, asking about my interests.
It was followed by the actual interview, which was a panel of 3 people. They were interested in why I wanted the job, previous leadership experience, and my coursework. Last about an hour
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Give us an example of a time where you were minimal direction on how to approach an assigned project, and how you tackled it.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente (Emeryville, CA) in Mar 2009
Interview
I started as a contractor. My initial interviewer was not an experienced manager and so the questions were generic. The lateral move to my current position did not involve an interview. I simply started performing the job function and my job title and status was eventually changed. In my department things have changed somewhat, in that presentations are sometimes called for.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente (Oakland, CA)
Interview
From hitting send on the application to starting my first day it took over 2.5 months, so be patient and don't get discouraged. Everyone I talked to was very nice. I had 3 interviews total (2 on the phone and 1 in person). First one was with a HR rep and next two with the hiring manager. Overall everyone really put me at ease so I could do my best in the interviews.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
The very first phone interview happened unscheduled. I got a call 2 weeks after the HR representative let me know they wanted to interview me. So as soon as they tell you they want to interview you, start preparing for that first call (it may be impromptu).
